The former assistant coach of the defunct MFM FC of Lagos, joined Enyimba two years ago as an assistant to Finidi George, who left his role to take up the Super Eagles coaching job.
The 32-year-old has been in charge of Enyimba on a temporary basis since Finidi left. He led them to a third-place finish last season, as they earned a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
After putting pen to paper, the coach fondly called Yema, said: “I am honoured and grateful to the club’s chairman, Kanu Nwankwo for the trust he has placed in me.”
“We have built a strong foundation, and I am excited to lead the team to even greater heights.”
Chairman of the club, Kanu Nwankwo praised Coach Olanrewaju’s contributions to the team’s success and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the team as the head coach.
“Coach Yemi has been an invaluable member of our coaching staff,” Kanu said. “We believe he has the skills and expertise to take the team to the next level, and we look forward to seeing the team thrive under his leadership.”
