Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been named the Eastern Conference player of the week for Week 22 by the National Basketball Association (NBA), his second straight award and his fourth this season.
The Cameroonian center led the 76ers to a perfect week with a 3-0 record, securing vital road wins against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Charlotte Hornets, and the Indiana Pacers.
He averaged 35 points and 12.7 rebounds during that stretch, from March 13–19.

Embiid set a new franchise record for the most consecutive games with at least 30 points after scoring 31 points against the Pacers on Sunday, beating Sixers legends Allen Iverson and the late Wilt Chamberlain.
The seven-game streak with 30-plus points on 55% shooting saw him tie the longest such streak in league history.
Embiid who is one of the leading candidates for the 2022-23 Most Valuable Player award, also scored 37 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and added three blocks as the 76ers fell to the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, increasing his franchise record to 10 consecutive games with at least 30 points.
Embiid currently leads the NBA’s points per game statistics, averaging 33.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.8 blocks this season, with the Sixers currently third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 48-23 win-loss record as they look set to secure a playoff berth.

In the West, Sacramento King’s Domantas Sabonis grabbed the honour for the second consecutive week. The Lithuanian-American center won the award for the third time this season, becoming the first player in franchise history to receive the accolade three times in a single season.
He helped the Kings to a 3-1 record, including three consecutive road wins against the Bulls, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Washington Wizards.
Sabonis is averaging 19.1 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists this season in Sacramento.
