Hugo Ekitike has set a target of scoring in every game this season after netting in Liverpool’s 2-1 win city rivals Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
The 23-year-old Frenchman of Cameroonian heritage scored the second goal after Mohamed Salah set up Ryan Gravenberch for the opening goal.
It was Ekitike’s third goal in five Premier League games since his £69 million summer move from Eintracht Frankfurt. He has now scored in every top flight game bar the 1-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield.
“It’s really good,” he said. “I want to score every game, if you ask me. The last game I didn’t score but I always try to find a way to make the difference.
“It can be a goal, an assist, a run to create space for another player. It’s good.
“At the end, the most important [thing] is the team and it’s the three points.”
Liverpool have maintained a 100% record in the Premier League this season and Ekitike has warned against getting complacent.
“Football is moments, we can be happy today until tomorrow and when we wake up we have to go again,” he added.
“We have on Tuesday a cup game and we just have to focus and keep going. Our schedule is busy, we just have games and we have to reach goals all the time.”
