The Nigerian trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Sone Aluko all scored as Leicester City and Ipswich Town recorded 2-0 victories over Burton Albion and Bristol Rovers on Wednesday to progress to the second round of the EFL Cup.
The Foxes began life in the Championship after nine years in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Coventry City the weekend.

It took them just six minutes to get things off against Burton with Iheanacho putting the ball in with a deft touch from a Marc Albrighton cross. The lead doubled in the second minute of added time in the first half when Ndidi connected with Iheanacho’s pass to bury the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Ipswich were also comfortable winners against Bristol Rovers, first netting in the 12th minute courtesy of Jack Taylor before Aluko came off the bench in place of Taylor in the 66th minute and doubled the Tractor Boys’ lead 10 minutes later with a composed finish from a fine George Hirst pass.
