Roedie Roets asserted control as he used his lightning-fast takedowns and superior grappling to nullify Ayanda Zwane in Thursday’s EFC 118 event in Johannesburg, Afrosport reports.
Zwane came back strong in the fourth round but the pendulum swung back to Roets who dug deep to close the show with a strong final stanza after a mammoth bout, securing the victory with a unanimous decision.
In the co-main event, Cole “The Hitman” Henning went toe-to-toe with EFC legend and former champion Martin “The Punisher” Van Staden, and it was Van Staden’s precision that handed him a second-round Technical Knockout (TKO).

In the welterweight division, Peace ‘X’ Nguphane continued his assent up the rankings after overwhelming veteran Jason Culverwell, while the main card action saw Elbert Steyn get the better of Given Majuba. Ntando Zondi also maintained his incredible undefeated streak with victory over Godfrey Mkhwanazi.
In the prelim flyweight contest, Micky Cloete and Kelvin Smit fought tooth and nail for three explosive rounds, and it was Cloete who took the win by unanimous decision.
