The stage is set for the new season of the African Mixed Martial Arts event, Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) with title fights fixed for EFC 101 on March 2.
One of the main cards for Thursday’s night bout will see unbeaten Nicholas Hwende defend his Bantamweight title against 34-year-old Roevan De Beer. Hwende remains the undisputed champion of the Bantamweight category after finishing Nkazimulo ‘Zulu Boy’ Zulu at the main event of EFC 100 in December.
Hwende who hails from Zimbabwe, is renowned for his kickboxing skills and he has managed to win his last five fights via submission, technical knockouts or unanimous decision by the judges.
On the other hand, De Beer has registered five wins and five losses in the EFC. His latest EFC outing was at EFC 95 where he dominated Martin Gcinumkhondo with a round 1 submission.
Following a slow start in his EFC career that led to back-to-back losses in EFC 47, EFC 60 and EFC 67, the South African has shown his development in the sport and his strength is his tenacity to fight on.
