Ivory Coast striker Sebastien Haller has returned to training with Borussia Dortmund after a six-month battle with testicular cancer.
The French-born forward signed a four-year contract worth around €31 million with Dortmund in July 2022, but he has yet to make an appearance for the Bundesliga club after a tumour was found in his testicles during a pre-season training camp.
Haller underwent two surgeries and chemotherapy sessions over the last months and he has been given the approval to join his teammates on their return to training on January 2.
The former West Ham forward revealed the news via a post on Dortmund’s official twitter channel, where he expressed his gratitude to fans for their support.
“Hello guys, I’m finally back,” Haller said in the video message.
“It wasn’t easy, but with your support was better and easier to do. So I’m just looking forward to seeing you in the stadium for some victories.”

He finished third in the UEFA Champions League scorers’ list behind Karim Benzema (15) and Robert Lewandowski (13), scoring 11 times during Ajax’s run to the round of 16.
