Done Deal: Dortmund make Algeria’s Bensebaini first summer signing

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Algeria defender Ramy Bensebaini from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach.

Bensebaini joins Dortmund on a free transfer and he becomes their first signing of the summer following the departure of Raphael Guerreiro.

He signed a four-year contract that will keep him with the Black and Yellows until June 2027.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations winner moved to Germany from French club Rennes in 2019 and he played 113 matches for Monchengladbach that produced 25 goals and eight assists during his stay.

Bensebaini scored in both of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Bundesliga games against Borussia Dortmund this season and he is regarded as one of the most prolific left-backs in the German top-flight.

The 28-year-old made his Algeria debut in 2017 and he has played 53 international matches with the Desert Foxes, with six goals to his name.
