Arsenal have completed the signing of defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in a deal worth £42 million.
The Italian defender has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at Arsenal until 2029.
The 22-year-old who can play as a centre-back or left-back becomes Arsenal’s second major acquisition after the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford.
Bologna bought him from Swiss club Basel last summer for €4 million(£3.4 million), with Basel making 50% of Bologna’s profit on the deal.
He played all three group games for Italy at Euro 2024 but missed the round of 16 defeat to Switzerland due to suspension.

Meanwhile, Arsenal confirmed that Calafiori will wear the number 33 shirt and has travelled to the United States to join up with his new teammates in Philadelphia, as they continue preparations ahead of the 2024-25 season.
