Dominic Solanke: Spurs boss Postecoglou rules summer signing out of Everton game

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that club record signing Dominic Solanke will miss this weekend’s game against Everton in matchday two of the new Premier League season.

The 58-year-old Australian said Solanke, who joined Spurs from Bournemouth in a deal worth £65 million this summer, has picked up an ankle injury and will subsequently miss their first home game of the season.

“Dom [Solanke] picked up a knock in the last game,” Postecoglou said. “He got through the game, but it flared up the day after and he’ll miss the game tomorrow [against Everton].

“It’s an ankle injury. He copped it really early on, someone went across his ankle. It just depends on his recovery. We’ve got the international break but it’s not serious.”

Solanke played the full 90 minutes in Tottenham’s season opener at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City on Monday. However, his debut didn’t go as planned, as the Englishman failed to find the back of the net in their 1-1 draw against the Foxes.

A return date for the 26-year-old hasn’t been set, but he would surely not play for a part against Sean Dyche’s Toffees in their 3 p.m. kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
