‘Difficult to judge’ – Slot on Liverpool’s chance of winning quadruple

Maresca affirms Nkunku has a place in Chelsea squad

Liverpool manager Arne Slot stated that it is difficult to judge if Liverpool will be able to win an unprecedented quadruple this season, Afrosport reports.

The Reds currently top the Premier League, six points clear of Arsenal with a game in hand while they finished top of the UEFA Champions League league phase to automatically progress into the round of 16.

Liverpool made it back-to-back finals in the EFL Cup after coming back from a first leg semi-final loss against Tottenham Hotspur to win 4-1 on aggregate.

Slot’s side are also in action in the FA Cup fourth round against Plymouth Argyle on Sunday, and there has been talk of the Merseysiders going for the quadruple, having been arguably the best team in Europe this season.

Slot is however not been drawn into that narrative, but did admit that his team are currently in a good place.

“It’s difficult for me to judge because I wasn’t here last season, so I don’t know. I can only tell you that at this moment in time we are in a very good place. I’m not just talking about the results, but the players are fit and ready,” the Dutch tactician said.

“We are in a good place but we also know how long the season still is and how many difficult challenges there will still be for us.

“I’m not expecting us to win every game like we did [4-0 against Tottenham], but that is also not what I ask of them. We just try to do everything to win every single football match.”

Liverpool have played 37 competitive games under Slot this season, winning 29, drawing five and losing three.
