Victor Boniface scored his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen as they thumped FC Teutonia Ottensen 8-0 in the first round of the DFB Cup on Saturday.
The Nigerian forward is a summer signing from Belgian Pro League side Union Saint Gilloise where he scored 22 goals in 55 competitive appearances last season.
Leverkusen were a total class apart for their opponents from the German fourth tier and took the lead in the 16th minute via Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba before Boniface made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute with the assist from Alejandro Grimaldo. It became 3-0 in added time courtesy of Florian Wirtz to give Leverkusen a comfortable lead going into the half-time break.
The North Rhine-Westphalia team picked up from where they left off in the second half with Amine Adli, Jeremie Frimpong, Adam Hlozek (brace) and Jonas Hofmann completing the scoring.
