Deadline Day: Fulham and Everton agree deal for Alex Iwobi transfer

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is on the verge of sealing a permanent transfer to Fulham from Everton after the two Premier League clubs agreed a fee on Friday.

The 27-year-old is reportedly back in London for a medical, and if all goes well, he is expected to be the subject of a deal worth around £22 million.

Iwobi will become the Cottagers second Nigerian signing of the summer window after they brought in Calvin Bassey from Ajax Amsterdam. He will be reuniting with Portuguese manager Marco Silva, who had previously signed him for Everton during his time with the Toffees.

The former Arsenal midfielder will be playing for his third Premier League side, and he is set to depart Goodison Park after four years with nine goals and 16 assists in about 140 matches, including winning the Player’s Player of the Year award for the 2022–23 season.

He has featured twice in the league for them this season and was ruled out of their recent defeat to Wolves with an injury.

Iwobi, who had the opportunity to play for both Nigeria and England, eventually chose the Super Eagles and made his debut in 2015. He has since earned 63 caps and scored 10 goals for the three-time African champions.
