Deadline Day: Coventry City sign Frank Onyeka on loan from Brentford

EFL Championship leaders Coventry City have signed Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka on loan from Brentford for the rest of the season, Afrosport reports.

The 28-year-old joined the Bees from Danish Superliga side Midtjylland in 2021 and has made 87 competitive appearances for them, scoring once.

He has however featured just nine times in all competitions this season, with no start in the Premier League.

Onyeka, who spent last season on loan at German Bundesliga club Augsburg, will join Coventry permanently if they win promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.

“I’m a strong midfielder, I’m a winner and I always want to fight for my team-mates,” he said.

“My aim is to give 100%, bring my experience and help the team get promoted to the Premier League and bring glory to the city again.”

Onyeka participated at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, playing four matches as the Super Eagles claimed the bronze medal.
