Deadline Day: Anthony, Sancho & Hojlund secure moves away from Man United

Manchester United saw a flurry of departures on transfer deadline day as Antony secured a permanent move to Real Betis while Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Amass joined Aston Villa, Napoli and Sheffield Wednesday respectively on loan, Afrosport reports.

Antony had a successful loan spell with Betis in the second half of last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 26 games as the Spanish outfit reached the UEFA Conference League final.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has now signed a five-year-deal with the Andalusian club for a reported fee of €25 million and a 50% sell-on clause on any future sale.

Meanwhile, Sancho, who has been distant from the United first team since falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag in September 2023, has joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of 2025-26 campaign.

The 25-year-old English winger, whose contract at Old Trafford runs out at the end of the season, spent time on loan at Chelsea in the previous campaign, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists in 41 competitive games as the Blues won the UEFA Conference League.

Danish striker Hojlund returns to Italy and will play with Napoli for the rest of the season, with the Partenopei having a conditional obligation to buy him for €44 million if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League, while Amass will hope to gain valuable first team experience at EFL Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Other United players to have moved out during this summer transfer window include Jonny Evans (retired), Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof on free transfers while Marcus Rashford, Dan Gore and Toby Collyer joined Barcelona, Rotherham United and West Bromwich Albion on loan respectively.

Alejandro Garnacho was the biggest sale after completing a £40 million transfer to Chelsea with a 10% sell-on clause.

The only arrival for United on deadline day was highly-rated 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on a five-year deal worth a reported £18.1 million with add-ons.
