Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo is set for a spell on the sidelines as the Barcelona star has been ruled out for about five weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in their last match.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Catalan club this summer from RB Leipzig after an impressive outing at Euro 2024 where he scored two goals and provided three assists to help Spain win the title, has reportedly suffered an injury to the femoral biceps of his right thigh.
After struggling with a muscle problem at Estadi Montilivi on Sunday, Olmo was substituted in the 61st minute after scoring in Barcelona’s 4-1 win at Girona in a La Liga matchday five tie.
The midfielder, who was replaced by Eric Garcia, scored his side’s third goal in the 47th minute to put them 3-0 up as Hansi Flick’s men maintained their perfect start to the new season.
According to a report from the club on Monday, the test conducted on Olmo revealed that he has injured his right hamstring and is expected to be out for about four to five weeks.

Olmo has been in inspired form for Barcelona this season, scoring in all three of his league appearances with goals against Rayo Vallecano, Real Valladolid and Girona.
This will be a big blow for the Spanish side as they begin their European campaign on Thursday against Monaco at the Stade Louis II. They will also be up against Villarreal’s Yellow Submarines at the Estadi de la Ceramica on Sunday.
