Crystal Palace manager, Patrick Vieira said Wilfried Zaha’s future at the club is in his hands amid links with a move away from Selhurst Park.
The Ivory Coast international is currently linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad for a reported £9 million per year offer as his contract with the Eagles runs out in the summer.
Vieira, however, still wants Zaha to remain at Selhurst Park where he began his career, and has gone on to make 452 competitive appearances, providing 76 assists for the club and scoring 89 goals, including six goals this season.
“We want to keep him, but it is his decision,” Vieira said ahead of Palace’s Premier League match with Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.
“We are waiting to see what he wants but we will do everything for him at the club. His focus is on games; the important thing is we start winning games.
“He’s committed to taking the club further. I believe the club is doing what they can to keep him here. He knows how much the football club loves him.”
Crystal Palace currently sit in the 12th spot on the Premier League table – the same position they finished last season – but they are currently three points away from the relegation zone and Vieira admitted the pressure league position puts the club.
The Eagles are winless in their last 10 Premier League games (five draws, five losses), with their last victory recorded on December 31, after defeating Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
“When you do well in the first season, people are expecting you to keep improving,” Vieira continued.
“It will take time to be consistent. This is why it is important for us to remain calm – by us I mean the football club, to believe in the players and the way we are working.”
"Every game is important. This is the special one, we know how much it means to the football club and the fans." ????
