Jean-Philippe Mateta has told Crystal Palace of his intention to leave the club as interest grows in him from other Premier League and European clubs. Afrosport reports.
The French forward of Congolese heritage has 18 months left of his existing contract at Selhurst Park and has drawn interest from the likes of UEFA Champions League chasers Aston Villa and Italian giants Juventus.
Mateta joined Palace from Mainz in 2022, after an initial loan spell, and has scored 56 goals and provided 13 assists in 185 competitive appearances, helping them to FA Cup and Community Shield success last season and the club’s maiden European adventure in the UEFA Conference League this term.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner revealed that the club is willing to listen to offers for Mateta but only at the right price.
The South London outfit already sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last summer and recently sold captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City last week.
Glasner himself has announced he will be leaving Selhurst Park at the end of the season after failing to renew his contract, and has aimed at the club hierarchy over their recruitment strategy.
