The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) on Thursday, announced the date for the 2024 National Women’s Championship Finals, Afrosport reports.
A communique sent out from the NCF Secretariat revealed that the tournament will be held from 19 – 27 October, 2024, with the venue set for the NCF Pitches 1 and 2 of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Package B, in Abuja.

Four states have already booked a spot in the finals as Lagos, Kogi, Gombe and Kaduna are expected to represent South West, North Central, North East and North West zones, respectively.
The quartet will be joined by winners of the South East and South South playoffs set for 3 – 6, October, 2024.
The NCF also revealed that as a requirement to complete the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Scorecard, eight teams are required. Therefore, in order to be in line with this guideline, the runners-up of South West and South South qualifiers would be expected to produce teams for the event.
The NCF National Women’s Championship Final will precede the ICC T20 Men’s African Qualifier C tournament expected to be held on the same twin pitches from 20 – 30 November, 2024.
Meanwhile, the men’s category of the National Championship event has been moved to the first quarter of 2025 owing to the congested calendar for the last part of 2024, with the view of providing teams ample time to prepare for the competitiveness of the 50-overs event.
The NCF also indicated that the National Sports Festival is also expected to be held in 2025.
