Copa del Rey: Rudiger extra time goal helps Real Madrid scale through to final

Antonio Rudiger was the hero of the night as he scored in extra time to help Real Madrid reach the Copa del Rey final with an epic 4-4 draw and 5-4 semi-final aggregate victory, Afrosport reports.

Los Blancos were victorious 1-0 in the first leg at Reale Arena on February 26 and went behind at the Santiago Bernabeu when Ander Barrenetxea scored in the 16th minute.

Madrid responded through Brazilian wonderkid Endrick in the 30th minute but Sociedad were back ahead 3-1 through a David Alaba own goal and a Mikel Oyarzabal strike.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men would go on to respond with two goals of their own from Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni in the 82nd and 86th minute respectively for a 4-3 aggregate lead.

Oyarzabal however completed his brace in added time to tie the game and force extra time.

With time ticking away to move into a penalty shootout, Rudiger popped up with the winning aggregate goal in the 115th minute to send Real to their 41st Copa del Rey final where they will face either of fierce rivals Barcelona or Atletico Madrid who play in the other semi-final second leg on Wednesday.
