Chelsea have had an underwhelming 2022/2033 season to say the least and alluding to what has been a catastrophic campaign by their own lofty standards is only a fair remark.
Whichever you want to look at it, they have massively underperformed since the Todd Boehly led era tipped off.
The West London club never recovered from the departure of Thomas Tuchel as they looked a shadow their former selves under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.
Best Player: Thiago Silva
Chelsea kept ten clean sheets in the entire Premier League campaign and Thiago Silva was on the pitch on six of those occasions. He also had 26 appearances in the league in total.
Although the entire squad had a horrendous season, the veteran defender is the easiest pitch of the bunch as the team played better when he was on the pitch.
Worst signing: Mykhailo Mudryk
Two assists in 17 appearances from an £89 million signing tell why the former Shakthar Donestk youngster is our pick for Chelsea’s worst signing of the season.
Mudryk’s numbers are worrying just as well as his performances have not inspired much confidence.
Best Result: 3-0 victory vs Wolves
A good day at the office was a rare outcome for the Blues this season but reverse was the case on that sunny October afternoon for the Blues.
A looped Kai Havertz header, a lovely lob over Jose Sa by Christian Pulisic and a well taken shot on the edge of the box by Armando Broja cushioned Chelsea to what can easily be regarded as the sort of performance we have got accustomed to from the Blues at Stamford Bridge over the last two decades.
Worst Result: 3-0 defeat against Leeds United
The forgettable afternoon at Elland Road was a bad omen; a resounding warning of many horrendous defeats to come. As was always the case, they were not short of chances to score before Senegalese shot stopper Edouard Mendy couldn’t prevent the opening goal after he was robbed off the ball in his own area.
This was followed up with a header from former Valencia forward Rodrigo Moreno four minutes later and a Jack Harrison finish from close range which mirrored poor defending from Chelsea’s backline.
Top scorer: Kai Havertz
The German international scored seven goals in 24 Premier League appearances, one lesser than he scored in the previous season.
