Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association for violation of its anti-doping rules after failing a drugs test, Afrosport reports.
The 24-year-old Ukrainian was provisionally suspended by the FA in December after an adverse finding in a routine urine test, with the player claiming he never used any banned substance knowingly.
Football players found to have taken any banned substance intentionally could face a suspension of up to four years per the guidelines of world football governing body, FIFA .
The FA in a statement said: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of regulations 3 and 4 of the FA’s anti-doping regulations.
“As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
Mudryk has not played for Chelsea since November 28 last year and has not been part of any matchday squad since December 1.
He was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 on an eight-year deal that runs until June 2031, and has scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists in 73 competitive games.
