Chelsea recall Trevoh Chalobah from loan spell at Crystal Palace

Chelsea have recalled defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, Afrosport reports.

Chalobah, a Chelsea Academy graduate, was loaned to Palace last summer following the arrival of Italian manager Enzo Maresca, who initially deemed the Englishman surplus to requirement.

The 25-year-old, however, has been in good form at Selhurst Park this season, scoring three goals for the Eagles in 12 Premier League matches.

Palace, via a statement on the club website on Wednesday, confirmed Chalobah’s return to Chelsea after six months, thanking the player for his hard work during his short spell at the club.

“Crystal Palace can confirm that Chelsea have activated an option to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell,” the statement read.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Trevoh for his hard work and achievements in red and blue, and wish him the very best for his future.”

Chalobah’s return to Chelsea was fueled by long-term injuries to defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. The defender also took to social media to thank Palace and their fans for welcoming him to the club.

The post read: “It was short and sweet, but this club made such an impact on me so quickly. I was made to feel at home from day one, from the staff, teammates, community and you the supporters. The atmosphere at Selhurst was a vibe every single game. Thank you all!! Trev.”

Following their draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday, Chelsea will return to Premier League action on Monday against Wolverhampton Wanderers before heading to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City five days later.
