Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is unconcerned by the lack of goals from Cole Palmer in recent times, Afrosport reports.
The England forward is the Blues top scorer in the league this season with 14 goals and six assists but has failed to score in his last five games, his last goal coming in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on January 14.
Palmer’s drop in goalscoring form has also seen Chelsea struggle for results, with three losses in their last five games (W2). Maresca however does not seem bothered by all of these.
“No. I am always concerned about general performance. I am not concerned about Cole because Cole is a human being and he can have some moments during a season where he struggles a little bit more,” the Italian said ahead of Chelsea’s league clash with bottom club Southampton on Tuesday.
“The problem with Cole is that we rely on Cole for everything and I said since we started that we need to rely on the team. We need top players like Cole but we are not worried about him at all.”

When quizzed on what Palmer needs to do to get back to his best, Maresca said: “He needs to continue the way he is working. The other day he had a great chance but overall the performance from him – as I said, every game we expect a goal or assist from him so it is difficult.
“He is a human being. At this moment his performances probably reflects the team performances that we struggle to score goals so we need to be a little more clinical when we get the chances.”
Chelsea are seventh in the Premier League standings, just one point off the top four.
