Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shut down claims about his team being title contenders despite the impressive season they are having under his watch, Afrosport reports.
The Blues put in another solid performance as yet came from defeat to defeat London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 away from home on Sunday.
Chelsea are currently second just four points off league leaders Liverpool who have a game In hand after their fixture that was supposed to be played on Saturday was postponed due to Storm Darragh.
“We are ahead of my expectation,” Maresca said.
“In terms of the way we play on the ball, off the ball and in terms of the results.”
The former Leicester City manager does not want to buy into the titles contender tag as he feels his team are not at that level yet.
“Arsenal, [Manchester] City and Liverpool probably don’t slide – like Cucurella did,” he added in reference to the two slips that Marc Cucurella had which caused both of the early goals conceded against Spurs.
Maresca’s side will shift their attention to the Europa Conference League where they will be traveling to Kazakhstan giants Astana having already qualified for the knockout stages.
