The National Football League (NFL) on Wednesday revealed that it will make a return to Brazil for a second consecutive year as part of its international expansion plan, Afrosport reports.
The Los Angeles Chargers will play as the designated home team at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo on Friday, 5 September on the opening weekend of the 2025 regular season.

The Corinthians Arena was used as the official venue for both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics Games, as well as the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in South America in 2024.
The league returns to Brazil after Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in their 2024 season opener last September in the first-ever NFL game in the South American nation.
“After a successful and memorable first game in Brazil in 2024, we are delighted to confirm the league’s return to Sao Paulo with the Los Angeles Chargers as the designated team in what will be an incredible next chapter in the market,” said NFL Brazil General Manager Luis Martinez.
The League, however, has yet to reveal the Chargers’ opponent as it will be announced at a later date.
The NFL can now schedule up to eight league-operated international regular season games from 2025, with seven games set to take place abroad this incoming season.
The League has already announced three games in London and one each in Berlin, Madrid and Dublin. It also recently revealed plans to hold its inaugural game in Australia in 2026.
