Morocco reached their third consecutive African Nations Championship final following their 5-3 penalty shootout win over reigning champions Senegal after a 1-1 draw in Tuesday’s semi-final in Kampala, Afrosport reports.
The Atlas Lions got the better of co-hosts Tanzania with a 1-0 in the quarter-finals while the Teranga Lions got past co-hosts Uganda by the same 1-0 scoreline.
Layousse Samb put the Teranga Lions ahead after 16 minutes before Sabir Bougrine equalised for the Atlas Lions seven minutes later.
The game went into penalties after nothing could separate both teams in extra time, and Seyni Ndiaye missed the only spot kick for the Senegalese in the shootout while the Moroccans converted all theirs to won’t the tie.
