The 2022 African Nations Championship has reached the semi-final stage with a very interesting mix of teams.
At this stage, it’s expected the semis will be the favourites for the tournament up against each other. Its however a mix of giants against minnows.
Hosts Algeria take on Niger while Senegal will be up against Madagascar, all matches taking place on Tuesday.

The Desert Foxes had a fierce battle against the Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals, both teams playing with 10 men after Alexis Guendouz and Attohoula Kouassi were sent off.
They were still able to weather the storm, with Aymen Mahious coming through by scoring a penalty. It keeps alive the North African giants hopes of winning CHAN on home soil, joining neighbours Morocco as the only team to do so.
They will however have to get past a very resolute Niger team that have taken no prisoners since topping Group E. Their strongest showing was against Ghana in the quarters where goals in either half gave them a comfortable 2-0 win.
The Mena might have lost twice to Algeria in warm-up games last year, the scenario is different here as they are yet to concede in the tournament just like the Foxes, and it will give them enough motivation for another giant-killing result.

The Teranga Lions faced a serious challenge from Mauritania in the quarter-finals, with their West African neighbour producing more total shots (18) compared to their six.
They also had the lion’s share of possession (62%) but all that was undone by 19-year-old Lamine Camara’s penalty.
Senegal have been able to walk a tight rope for much of their CHAN 2022 journey but they will face a very different opposition in Madagascar who have arguably been the standout team in Algeria.
The Barea were the only team alongside the Algerians to have a 100% record in the group stage before dispatching Mozambique 3-1 in the last eight. All these so fascinating as it is their first CHAN outing where they have the most goals in the tournament (8).
Romuald Rakotondrabe’s men are clearly on top of the world at the moment and will belive they can take on any opponent which includes the Senegalese.
