Hosts of the 2022 African Nations Championship, Algeria, have concluded their preparations for the tournament after playing out a goalless draw with two-time runners-up Ghana.
The home-based Desert Foxes were in command for much of the first half, but could not find a way past a resolute Black Stars defence.
A 25th-minute substitution for Ghana captain Gladson Awako – with Sylvester Simba taking his place – did nothing to deter the determination of the West African giants.
Algeria remained in control after the break, having the lions share of possession and chances but still could not get past the Ghanaian back line.
Ghana had a few opportunities of their own but the Algerians were equally alert to thwart the danger.
The result means Algeria have now played three warm-up games without bagging a single win. They had previously faced Mauritania and Senegal with both matches ending 0-0 and 2-2 respectively.
The 2022 CHAN hosts will open their tournament account against regional neighbours Libya in Group A in the capital city of Algiers on January 13.
Ghana will play their final warm-up match against Mozambique on Tuesday before kicking off their CHAN campaign against debutants Madagascar in Group C on January 15.
