Algeria and Senegal will play each other in the final of the 2022 African Nations Championship after recording 5-0 and 1–0 victories over Niger and Madagascar respectively.
The Menas and Barea came into this tournament as minnows and caught attention when they made it out of the group stage.
Their strong showing meant it was going to be a tough task for the Desert Foxes and Teranga Lions in Tuesday’s semi-final games, however, it was a one-way show for the CHAN 2022 tournament hosts as Ayoub Abdellaoui opened proceedings in Oran in the 15th minute.
It was followed by a brace from Aymen Mahious who now took his tally in the ongoing tournament to five goals, extending his lead in the scorer’s chart.
Boureima Katakore put the ball into his own net just before the halftime break to add more woes for Niger and second-half substitute Soufiane Bayazid had the final say for Algeria in the 83rd minute.

In the other semi-final, Pape Diallo’s fifth minute effort was all that was needed at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers. The West African giants dominated in all the aspects of the game bar possession, denying Madagascar a chance to continue their underdog story in the end.
Regardless, the Malagasy will play Niger in the third/fourth place playoff in Oran before Saturday’s anticipated final in Algiers.
