Tunisia Ligue 1 giants Esperance have confirmed the return of their CAF Champions League winning coach Moine Chaabani as their new coach.
Chaabani succeeds Nabil Maaloul at the helm following the Blood and Gold’s exit from the Champions League in the hands of Al Ahly last Friday.
The 41-year-old coach terminated his contract in the Egyptian Premier League with Ceramica Cleopatra, for a return to the Stade Hammadi Agrebi after leaving the club in 2021.
Chaabani led Esperance to two CAF Champions League titles in 2018 and 2019.
He also enjoyed domestic success with the Blood and Gold with five successive Tunisian Ligue 1 titles and two Tunisian Super Cups.
The former Tunisia international will work alongside former Esperance midfielder Majdi Traoui who will be the assistant coach.
Esperance tweeted; “The couple Mouine Chaâbani – Majdi Traoui is reunited again. Work starts tonight. Good luck.”

Esperance are struggling in the Tunisian top-flight and they find themselves fighting for qualification for next season’s Champions League as they currently sit fifth in the table.
Chaabani’s second stint as Esperance’s head coach will begin tonight when they welcome US Tataouine to the Stade Hammadi Agrebi for a league fixture.
