Cameroonian goalkeeper Onana claims first Man Utd POTM award

Cameroon’s Onana included in Champions League team of the week

Cameroon international Andre Onana has been voted Manchester United’s Player of the Month for March, following his series of impressive performances.

The 28-year-old claims the award for the first time since his summer move to Old Trafford, beating Portuguese fullback Diogo Dalot and Argentine teenager Alejandro Garnacho to the honour.

Onana, who endured a tough start to life with the 13-time Premier League champions, has looked settled over the last few weeks, churning out fantastic performances game after game for Erik Ten Hag’s men.

United lost only one of the four games they played in the month of March, where Onana made 23 saves from the 30 shots he faced and kept one clean sheet in a 2-0 league win over Everton at Old Trafford.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan shot stopper has solidified himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season, and having played all of United’s 29 league games, he is currently tied for the second most clean sheets with eight shut-outs, three behind league leader David Raya’s eleven.

According to the Premier League, Onana has made 108 saves this season, and he is tied for third with only Luton Town’s Thomas Kaminski (118) and West Ham United’s Alphonse Areola (113) making more.

Onana will be in action for the Red Devils later tonight (Thursday), when they visit Stamford Bridge to take on 12th-placed Chelsea on matchday 31.
