TP Mazembe lifted their first-ever CAF Women’s Champions League title after defeating favourites AS FAR 1-0 in Saturday’s final in El Jadida, Afrosport reports.
The Congolese giants made it to their maiden final after getting the better of Edo Queens in extra time in the semi-finals while their Moroccan opponents defeated Egypt’s Masar FC.
Mazembe were able to gain control of Saturday’s final thanks to Marlene Yav Kasaj converting from the penalty spot in the 10th minute.
AS FAR pushed for an equaliser in a bid to chance their second Champions League title but Mazembe held firm to see out the game in grand style and earn the jackpot prize of $600,000.
