Orlando Pirates claimed a big advantage in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) quarter-finals after recording a 1-0 win away at Algerian side MC Alger in the first leg on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.
Mohau Nkota’s 65th minute goal was the difference in Douera, giving the South African giants momentum going into the return leg in Johannesburg next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, fellow South African side Mamelodi Sundowns were also victorious, claiming a 1-0 home win over Tunisian giants Esperance thanks to Peter Shalulile’s 54th minute effort.
There was also a 1-0 home win for reigning champions Al Ahly as they beat Al Hilal Omdurman of Susan courtesy of Mohamed Hany’s 11th minute goal.

The biggest result of the night saw Pyramids FC of Egypt thump AS FAR Rabat 4-1 in Cairo.
DR Congo forward Fiston Mayele and Ibrahim Adel scored twice while Abdelfettah Hadraf got the consolation goal for AS FAR.
