The People’s Elephants fielded a strong team, with Clinton Jephta who scored two goals in their 3-1 win at Heartland in their NPFL opener leading the attack.

The two-time African Champions will however go through to the next round if they win the second leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on September 22.
In other CAF Confederation Cup games played at the weekend, Stellenbosch of South Africa defeated Vita Club 2-0, Zamalek beat Kenya Police 1-0, Al Hilal Benghazi won 3-2 at the expense of Egypt’s Al Masry.
Kara FC of Togo defeated ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast 2-1, Al Ahly Tripoli and Simba SC of Tanzania played out a goalless draw, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia won 1-0 away at Rukinzo of Burundi, Orapa United of Botswana were beaten 1-0 at home by Dynamos of Zimbabwe.
CS Constantine won 2-0 away at Nsoatreman of Ghana, RS Berkane beat Dadje of Benin Republic 2-0, Black Bulls pipped Otoho d’oyo 1-0, Lunda Sul defeated South Africa’s Sekhukhune FC 1-0 and Stade Malien were beaten 1-0 by Paynnesville FC.
