The draw for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers was conducted in Morocco on Wednesday with teams from the six CAF zones jostling for spots in the Ivory Coast.
Nigeria Women Football League champions, Delta Queens find themselves in Group A of the WAFU Zone B qualifiers.
Delta Queens are aiming to make their debut appearance in the Women’s Champions League after Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels represented Nigeria in the last two editions.
The NWFL champions need to overcome the challenge of Burkina Faso’s Union Sportive, Ivory Coast’s Athletico and Benin’s SAM Nelly in Group A of the qualifiers. Group B of WAFU Zone B houses Ghana champions Ampem Darkoa, Togo’s Friend of the World and Niger’s AS Garde.
The WAFU Zone B qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Nigeria between August 18-31.
Meanwhile, WAFU Zone A qualifiers will see host team, Determine Girls of Liberia battle Mali’s AS Mande, Senegal’s Dakar Sacre Coeur and Sierra Leone’s Mogbewmo Queens between August 5-13.
Defending champions AS FAR get an automatic qualification to the 2023 Women’s Champions League finals while Tunisia’s AS Feminine, Egypt’s Wadi Delga and SC Casablanca of Morocco will battle for the other ticket for North African Zone (UNAF) in Algeria from August 12 to 30.
The CECAFA Zone has two groups Uganda’s Kampala Queens, Ethiopia’s CBE, Djibouti’s FAD, Burundi’s Buja Queens and Sudan’s Yei Gaskets are in Group A.
Tanzania duo of New Generation of Zanzibar and JKT Queens will face Kenya’s Vihiga Queens and Rwanda’s AS Kigali in group B.
