The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday announced that the draw for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League tournament will take place at the Complex Mohamed VI in Salé, Morocco, on Friday, October 18.
CAF on Wednesday revealed that the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League will be held in Morocco, the same venue for the 2022 edition of the competition.
Meanwhile, Friday’s draw is scheduled to begin at 12pm local time (12pm Nigerian time) and will be live on CAF’s digital platforms, including CAF YouTube, as well as its partner networks.
CAF also revealed that Fatiha Laasiri, former Morocco and ASFAR player and current U23 Morocco Women’s National Team Assistant Coach, will serve as the draw assistant.
The 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, which is the fourth edition of the tournament, will feature five debutants, including Nigeria’s Edo Queens, Aigles de la Medina (Senegal), the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), Tutankhamun (Egypt), and CBE FC (Ethiopia).
The quintet will be joined by two-time winners and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), 2022 champions and hosts ASFAR (Morocco), and DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, who are making a return to this stage after missing the last edition in Cote d’Ivoire.
This year’s edition of the tournament will run from November 9-23, with the winners set to get a record prize money worth USD 400,000, while the runners-up will get USD 250,000.
