Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has called for patience from the fans and a winning mentality from his players as they prepare to take on Wydad Casablanca in the second leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final.
Masandawana welcome the defending Champions League winners to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday after battling for a goalless draw in the first leg in Casablanca last weekend.
Mamelodi Sundowns are hunting for their second-ever Champions League trophy and a third final appearance in the secondary CAF club competition on home ground.
Sundowns struggled to break Wydad’s defence in the first-half as they barely registered a shot on target but Mokwena is hopeful of a change in their attacking mentality in front of home fans.
“We have to figure out a way past every opponent. That’s the work that we do. Everybody at the club tries to invest time and hours into assisting the players to make sure that their performances are good against any opponent.
“The mentality, as I’ve said in the past, is that we try to win every game, every single pass, every single training session, every single rondo, every single small-sided game. And that mentality hopefully is what has carried us to where we are.
“I’m hoping that that is the mentality that we will demonstrate up until the end of the season. And I have no doubts because this team has never given me any reason to doubt. Their credibility, their ability to play football and to win football matches.
