Round three of the CAF Champions League group phase was headlined by the blockbuster Group B clash between Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns at the Al Salam Stadium, which ended 2-2.
The Brazilians took the lead in the 34th minute through Namibian forward Peter Shalulile before Mohamed Abdelmonem equalised for the Red Devils just before the hour mark. Prior to that moment, Mohamed Hany missed the chance to equalise after failing to convert his penalty.
Hussein El Shahat made it 2-1 for the Egyptian giants, but Thapelo Morena drew the 12-time South African Premier League Soccer League champions level in the 80th minute.
Earlier on Friday, Al Merreikh of Sudan defeated Algerian side Belouizdad 1-0, likewise reigning champions Wydad Casablanca against Petro Atletico de Luanda, while Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman claimed a big 2-1 away win at Coton Sport of Cameron in Group B.
On Saturday, Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca defeated Guinean heavyweights Horoya 2-0 in Group C while Tanzania’s Simba SC defeated Vipers of Uganda in Entebbe.
In Group D, Tunisian giants Esperance defeated their Egyptian counterparts Zamalek 2-0 while in Group A, DR Congo outfit AS Vita made home advantage count in a 1-0 win over JS Kabylie of Algeria.

Round four of the group stage fixtures will be the reverse of all the games played in round four and will take play on March 7. Before then, Wydad Casablanca and Al Ahly will play rescheduled round one games against AS Vita and Coton Sport respectively as their games earlier postponed due to participation at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.
