CAF Champions League & Confederation Cup draw serve up thrilling Q/finals matchups

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday conducted the quarter-final draw for the 2024-25 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, Afrosport reports.

The draw, which was held at the beIN Sports studios in Doha, Qatar, saw the final eight teams in both tiers of African club football get their respective opponents for the knockout stages.

In the CAF Champions League, defending champions Al Ahly were drawn against Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC, with the first leg to be played in Egypt.

Egyptian side Pyramids FC face an uphill battle against Morocco’s ASFAR, South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will take on four-time winners ES Tunis, while Algerian club MC Alger are up against 1998 winners Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, the CAF Confederation Cup draw sees South Africa’s Stellenbosch up against defending champions Zamalek.

ASEC Mimosas will tackle two-time champions RS Berkane, CS Constantine gets 2023 winners USM Alger, while Egyptian side Al Masry SC were drawn against Tanzanian club Simba SC.

The quarterfinals of both competitions will be played over two legs, with the Champions League games scheduled for 1-2 April and 8-9 April, while the Confederation Cup fixtures are set to take place on 2 April and 9 April.

 

2024/25 CAF Champions League Quarter-Finals Draw:

QF 1: Al Ahly SC (EGY) vs Al Hilal SC (SDN)

QF 2: Pyramids FC (EGY) vs AS FAR (MAR)

QF 3: Mamelodi Sundowns (RSA) vs Esperance Sportive de Tunis (TUN)

QF 4: MC Alger (ALG) vs Orlando Pirates (RSA)

 

2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup Quarter-Finals Draw: 

QF 1: Stellenbosch FC (RSA)  v Zamalek SC (EGY)

QF 2: Asec Mimosas (CIV) v RS Berkane (MAR)

QF 3: CS Constantine (ALG) v USMA (ALG)

QF 4: Al Masry (EGY) v Simba SC (TAN)
