Two-time African Champions Enyimba will begin their journey in the 2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup with a visit to Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante in a second preliminary round clash scheduled for Friday, September 13, at 5pm Nigerian time.
The People’s Elephants got a bye in the first preliminary round, and have their eyes on a favourable result at the Mamadou Konate stadium in Bamako.
The Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions started their campaign in the new season with a 3-1 win away at Heartland on Sunday, and will be buoyed by the result to go all out against their opponents.
Although Enyimba have won the CAF Champions League twice in 2003 and 2004, they are yet to lift the CAF Confederation Cup.
On the other hand, Etoile Filante, 13-time winners of the Burkinabe Premier League, have never been continental champions in their history.
Elsewhere, Confederation Cup action will see Ghana’s Nsoatreman FC host CS Constantine from Algeria, while Senegal’s ASC Jaraaf travel to Racing club of Ivory Coast.
South Africa’s Stellenbosch are home to AS Vita Club, Kenya Police FC will tackle Zamalek of Egypt, Association Sportive Otohô of Congo are away to Mozambique’s Black Bull FC.
Angola’s Lunda Sul will battle Sekhukhune United of South Africa, Dadje FC of Benin Republic are at home against RSB Berkane of Morocco, Stade Malien visit Liberia’s Paynnesville FC, while Stade Tunisien host USM Alger.
In other games, Orapa United of Botswana also have a date with Dynamos of Zimbabwe, Bravos Maquis of Angola lock horns with Congo’s Saint Eloi Lupopo and Rukinzo of Burundi do battle with CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.
Togo’s AS Kara are also scheduled to face ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast, Al-Hilal Benghazi will welcome Al Masry of Egypt, and Libya’s Al-Ahly Tripoli lock horns with Simba SC of Tanzania.
