The qualification draw for the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations will be held on Thursday, June 13, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed on Tuesday.
The draw ceremony, which will take place at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, by 2 pm local time (12 noon Nigerian time).
The 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON qualifiers will decide the remaining seven teams that will compete at the tournament alongside hosts Egypt.
According to CAF, the 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON qualifiers are slated to be held in June and July, with the main tournament set to take place later this summer in Egypt.
Additionally, CAF revealed that details surrounding the processes for the draws, the participating teams, and the actual dates for the qualifiers will be announced shortly.
The 2024 tournament in Egypt will be the sixth edition of the Beach Soccer AFCON and marks the second time it will be held in a North African nation. The tournament was first held in Egypt in 2018 in the city of Sharm El Sheikh, with Senegal emerging as champions.
Senegal, who are the defending champions of the competition, having won the last edition, which was held in Mozambique in 2022, are the most decorated African beach soccer team with seven titles. Last time out, they saw off Egypt 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time at the Vilankulo Arena.
