Neighbours Mauritania and Senegal stunned North African giants Morocco and Egypt on Thursday to reach the final of the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON), Afrosport reports.
The tie between The Lions of Chinguetti and the Atlas Lions was a tight game with little separating them in the first and second periods. They were however able to take control in the third and final period to win 7-4 and reach their first-ever final in their maiden tournament outing.
Meanwhile, the other semi-final between the Teranga Lions and Pharaohs was a much tighter affair but the Senegalese were the ones to come out on top by defeating the tournament hosts 2-1.
It marks a turnout around for the defending champions who started the tournament on a losing note (5-2) to the Mauritanians in the group stage before winning their other two games.
