The move puts an end to a long summer of speculations surrounding the future of Osimhen, who had a fallout with Napoli, the club he led to Serie A triumph in the 2022-23 season, finishing as top goal scorer with 26 league goals.
The 25-year-old was a subject of a transfer tussle between Premier League club Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, but the deals failed to materialise as transfer terms were not met before the transfer deadline.
However, after agreeing personal terms with Galatasaray on Monday night, the former Lille man jetted out on a private flight to Istanbul, where he was warmly welcomed by fans of the club.
He reportedly signed a new deal with Napoli, which puts his new release clause at €75 million, and as per agreement between the three parties, he will be eligible to leave Turkey in January if any suitor comes for his signature.
Osimhen, who was also courted by Paris Saint-Germain scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli, and the reigning African Footballer of the Year holds the title of being the first African to win the Golden Boot in the Italian top-flight.
Galatasaray are currently second in the Super Lig standings with three wins in as many games. They sit one point behind Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, who have 10 points and have played a game more.
The Turkish giants will compete in Europa this season as the Okan Buruk-led side are set to partake in the revamped UEFA Europa League.
