Victor Boniface took to social media to show his jovial side after Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 with West Ham United in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night and maintained their unbeaten record in all competitions this season.
The newly-crowned German Bundesliga champions won the first leg quarter-final 2-0 but fell behind in the return leg to Michail Antonio’s first half strike.
Just as they have been accustomed for much of this season, Xabi Alonso’s men saved their best for last with substitute Jeremy Frimpong equalising in the 89th minute.
It took Leverkusen to 44 games unbeaten in all competitions this season, surpassing Juventus’ record 43 games among teams in Europe’s top five leagues (England, Germany, Spain, Italy and France).
44 – Bayer 04 Leverkusen are unbeaten in 44 consecutive matches in all competitions (W38 D6), setting a new record for a team in the big-five European leagues (the previous record holder was Juventus with 43 games from May 2011 to May 2012). Unstoppable.@bayer04_en pic.twitter.com/0LzT24RLgY

Boniface, who came on for Patrik Schick at the start of the second half, shared a post on X after the game with the caption: “You don collect ur own 50k. Cus I see alert oo.”
The post was in reference to the Nigerian government’s cash sharing scheme to vulnerable citizens who have been heavily impacted by the current economic climate.

Some users found it funny that Boniface would post such as he earns way above ₦50,000 at Leverkusen.
The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward has however continued to use his X account to share funny posts often in pidgin English which draws huge engagement from Nigerian fans.
