Jan Bednarek has joined Portuguese giants FC Porto from Southampton on a four-year deal worth €7.5 million, Afrosport reports.
The 29-year-old Polish defender joined the Saints in 2017 and played 254 times in all competitions, including 30 last season in the Premier League, which saw their relegation back to the Championship.
Bednarek is Porto’s seventh summer signing, after Gabri Veiga, Joao Costa, Dominik Prpic, Borja Sainz, Victor Froholdt and Alberto Costa.
“FC Porto has reached an agreement with Southampton Football Club to definitively acquire Jan Bednarek’s sports registration rights and 100% of his economic rights for a fixed fee of €7.5 million,” read a club statement.
“Furthermore, FC Porto has signed a four-season contract with the player, valid until June 30, 2029, and has agreed to a €60 million release clause.
“Southampton will assume liability for the third-party solidarity mechanism, and FC Porto declares that it will incur intermediary fees of 3% of the transaction value.”

Porto recently participated in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States but failed to make it out of the group phase, finishing third behind Palmeiras and Inter Miami.
They finished third in Liga Portugal last season, 11 points behind champions Sporting Lisbon, and will begin the new campaign at home to Vitoria Setubal on August 9.
