German Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich have given Sadio Mane a one-game suspension with a yet-to-be-confirmed fine for misconduct that led to punching teammate Leroy Sane.
Mane and Sane were involved in a dressing room scuffle after having a heated argument at the end of their 3-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday.
The Senegal international will consequently miss the Bavarians’ league fixture against Hoffenheim on Saturday but it is unsure if he will be summoned for the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final match against Man City at the Allianz Arena on April 19.
“Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday. The reason is Mane’s misconduct after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.” read a club statement.
On Thursday afternoon, Mane and Sane were seen training together in Munich with the Germany winger having a mark from the hit on his lip.
Mane recently returned from a knee injury that ruled him out of action since November 2022 and he has played 20 Bundesliga matches so far this season with six goals to his name.
