Bayern Munich coach Tuchel reacts to Potter’s sack at Chelsea

Bayern Munich boss Tuchel ‘shocked and still hurt’ by Chelsea sacking

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel said a lot of changes have taken place at Chelsea following the sacking of Graham Potter.

Potter was dismissed on Sunday with assistant manager Bruno Saltor taking charge in the interim.

Tuchel himself was sacked by Chelsea earlier in the season before Potter left Brighton & Hove Albion to move to Stamford Bridge but he was sacked on Sunday after the Blues fell to 11th on the table.

Tuchel also asserted the news of Potter’s sacking did not trigger any feelings in him. The German tactician was recently appointed by Bayern and got off to a winning start by beating his former team Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the Bundesliga to move above them at the top of the table.

“I saw the news very late,” Tuchel said.

“I really enjoyed working there and formed friendships for life. But the club has changed a lot, so it didn’t really trigger big emotions in me.”

Saltor meanwhile stated that it has been difficult handling Potter’s exit from Chelsea and owes occupying the managerial role in the interim because of Potter.

“Obviously it’s been a difficult 24 hours for all of us, for the staff, for the families and now we just have to deal with the situation,” the former Brighton defender said ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.

“It is a sad day. A sad day for staff because Graham [Potter] and Billy [Reid] leaving, two top coaches, top people, top human beings.

“How I see it is I have to be the most professional I can, try to help the players, guide the players to prepare the game the best we can.

“If I am here right now it’s because Graham and the club, they thought it was the right step and I’m here just trying to help the club and trying to be the most professional I can.”

A number of high-profile managers have been linked with taking at Stamford Bridge including Julian Nagelsmann, Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino, with reports suggesting the club wants to have the new manager in place before their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie with Real Madrid next Wednesday.
