Nigeria’s men basketball team, D’Tigers will begin their qualification campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with in Group A of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying tournament.
The 2015 FIBA Africa champions will face Senegal, Mali and Uganda in the pre-qualifying tournament that will take place in Lagos from August 12-20, 2023.
Meanwhile, Group B houses DR Congo, Cameroon, Guinea and Tunisia with only one African team to progress to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament next year.
Nigeria have played in the last three editions of the Olympic Games but they did not make it past the preliminary round in London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
Earlier this year, D’Tigers failed to qualify for the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
Angola, South Sudan, Egypt, Cape Verde and the Ivory Coast are the five African countries that will feature in the global competition this year.
