Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi on Monday scored for the first time this season as Nottingham Forest thumped Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at the Molineux Stadium, Afrosport reports
Awoniyi, who has since lost his starting spot to red-hot Chris Wood, brought an end to his 21-game goal drought in the Premier League with a stoppage time finish to help Forest clinch their 12th league win of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have been in inspired form all season, and it did not take them long to get on the scoresheet as midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White put them ahead in the seventh minute. The Englishman found the bottom corner with a right-footed strike from inside the box after he was teed up by Anthony Elanga.
Wolves came close to restoring parity, but Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen saw his effort cleared off the line by Forest defender Murillo.
The visitors, however, doubled their lead through Wood, with the New Zealand international bagging his 12th league goal of the season. After some fine play down the left flank from Callum Hudson-Odoi, the English forward picked out Wood with a cutback, with the Forest No. 11 slotting home a left-footed strike.
Wood was replaced by Awoniyi in the 88th minute, and it took the 27-year-old Nigerian just six minutes to get on the scoresheet. Awoniyi combined with fellow substitute James Ward-Prowse to bring an end to his 324-day goal drought, having last scored for Forest in February 2024.
The win was Forest’s sixth straight in the Premier League, marking their longest winning streak in the top division since 1967.
